Donald Trump is ahead of the rest of the Republicans thanks to the support of his main rival Ron DeSantis, which, according to a new poll, has fallen by half.

Despite the fact that the former the president faces 91 felony charges and appears unstoppable, forcing his opponents to rethink their tactics in the face of Trump's might.

Candidates who have avoided attacking Trump for fear of alienating the Republican base are now reportedly poised to do so.

They are also expected to ramp up campaigning in early voting states such as New Hampshire and Iowa, hoping to slow it down.

There is growing speculation that Trump's candidacy could face legal challenges under the US 14th Amendment, which disqualifies anyone who has «participated in rebellion or insurrection against the United States» from running for public office.

Wall Poll The Street Journal's finding that the ex-president is supported by 59 percent of Republican primary voters, up 11 percent from April, fuels the growing desperation of Trump's opponents.

GOP voters overwhelmingly thought the four criminal cases against Mr. Trump were unfounded, with about half saying they had stepped up their support for him.

Some 78 percent of voters said Mr. Trump Trump's attempts to cancel the 2020 election were legitimate attempts to ensure a proper vote.

The former president's lead over Mr. DeSantis has almost doubled to 46 percent, according to The Wall Street Journal.

However, this is a reflection of the loss of support for the Florida governor, which has fallen from 24 percent. in April to just 13 percent, five points ahead of former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley.

Vivek Ramaswamy, a tech mogul and political newcomer, also threatens Mr. DeSantis' status as the only viable alternative. Trump.

According to Politico, this forced the DeSantis campaign to turn around and try to stop Mr. Ramaswamy's advance.

«The only way» to beat Trump

Meanwhile, internal polls by an unnamed rival candidate show Trump's core support is somewhere between 28 and 33 percent.

“The data does show some bright spots. In the first states, Trump's rating is at least 10 points lower than in the country, — said Chris Sununu, Republican governor of New Hampshire and critic of Mr. Trump.

— There is still a lot of work to be done. to do, but there is plenty of time for it.”

Chris Galdieri, professor of political science at St. Anselm's College in New Hampshire, says this is the only hope left for Trump's rivals.

a way to overtake him with many town halls and send out a million leaflets.

‌ “I think it's unlikely, but it's their only hope. If Trump wins in New Hampshire, South Carolina and Iowa, then Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis can't do anything.»

The only other way is through the courts, where Trump's opponents cling to the opinions of two conservative legal scholars —William Bode and Michael Stokes Paulsen — argue that the former president is disqualified from running under the 14th Amendment.

Legal action has been filed, and several Secretaries of State are reportedly privately debating the implications of this articles. .
