Mercedes-Benz introduced the new generation X214 cross-station wagon E-Class All-Terrain at the Munich Motor Show, it will be offered only with 4Matic all-wheel drive and a choice of three powertrains — diesel, petrol and hybrid diesel-electric.
The cross-version of All-Terrain first appeared in the E-class in 2016 (sales began in 2017), it was assigned its own factory index X213, and today the second generation with the X214 index debuted. There are few technical differences between the X214 cross-station wagon and the regular S214 generation station wagon, which premiered in June: this is an increased ground clearance of 46 mm (its final value is not indicated), the standard Airmatic adaptive air suspension, the standard 4Matic all-wheel drive and a protective plastic body kit on bottom perimeter of the body. Cosmetic features are a coarse-grained radiator grille with two chrome-plated crossbars (diode lighting is offered as an option), pseudo-metal inserts in the area of the bottom and on the threshold of the trunk and a new design of rims (18- or 20-inch).

Additional confidence when driving off-road, the driver should be given all-round cameras, with the help of which the “transparent” hood function is implemented, when a piece of land is visible in the area of the front wheels. For the instrument panel and multimedia screen, special off-road modes are provided with animated indicators of roll and pitch angles, a compass, an altimeter, tire pressure and other specific parameters. Trunk volume is the same as that of a conventional station wagon — 615 liters, with the rear seats folded — 1830 liters (for the plug-in hybrid version — 460 liters and 1675 liters, respectively).

The petrol All-Terrain E 450 4Matic with a 3.0-liter in-line “six” is the most powerful in the range: the internal combustion engine here produces 381 hp. and 500 Nm, when starting from a standstill and intensive acceleration, it is assisted by exactly the same starter-alternator as in the diesel version. .jpg» /> 1/4 2/4 3/4 4/4
The plug-in hybrid All-Terrain E 300 de 4Matic is equipped with the same 2.0-liter turbodiesel as the base version, but here a more powerful electric motor (129 hp, 440 Nm) is docked to it, the maximum total output of the power plant — 313 hp and 700 Nm. The capacity of the traction battery is 25.4 kWh (of which 19.5 kWh are available to the consumer), the maximum range on electric traction is 102 km according to the WLTP cycle. In electric mode, you can accelerate no higher than 140 km/h. The first «hundred» plug-in hybrid cross-station wagon gains in 6.9 seconds, diesel E 300 de 4Matic — in 8.1 seconds, petrol E 450 4Matic — in 4.7 seconds. The maximum trailer weight for all versions is 2100 kg with brakes and 750 kg without brakes. 5 2/5 .jpg» /> 3/5 5/5
For the All-Terrain version, the same rich list of options is offered as for a regular station wagon: you can, for example, order a separate multimedia screen for the front passenger built into the front panel, a selfie camera, color music, electric air vents and much more . The new Mercedes-Benz E-Class All-Terrain will appear at European dealers in the first quarter of next year, prices have not yet been announced. In the US, the cross-wagon will be offered only with a gasoline engine.
