The 2+2 electric sports car will be one of seven new models that Alpine wants to bring to market by 2030.
French brand Alpine, owned by the Renault Group, is in the process of transforming itself from a niche manufacturer of one model into a major and global player on the level of Porsche. Alpine's transformation formally kicked off at the beginning of 2021, with the announcement that Alpine would absorb Renault Sport and be responsible for all of the Renault Group's sporting competencies, and that all new Alpine models would be electric.
If Alpine announced only three electric models in 2021, now at least seven are expected. The current plan is as follows: in 2024, the Alpine A290 hot hatch based on the new Renault 5 will see the light of day, in 2025 there will be a compact crossover GT X-Over, in 2026 — a new generation A110 sports car in coupe and roadster bodies, in 2027 — D-class crossover, in 2028 — E-class crossover. The seventh model, about which there was no information before, is the A310 coupe with a 2+2 seating arrangement, the British magazine Autocar spoke about this new product today with reference to Alpine representatives, in particular to design director Anthony Villen.
According to British colleagues, the new Alpine A310 should enter the market in 2027, it will share the Alpine Performance Platform (APP) with the strictly two-seat next-generation Alpine A110. Let us recall that until the spring of this year it was assumed that the electric Alpine A110 would receive a Lotus development platform, but in May it turned out that the cooperation between Alpine and Lotus had broken up, and now Alpine is developing its own platform for its new sports cars.
The new Alpine A310 is positioned as a competitor to the Porsche 911, that is, it will be a slightly larger and more spacious model than the Alpine A110, which in turn is aimed at competing with the Porsche 718.

Alpine already had a model with the A310 index, it was produced from 1971 to 1984, it was a 2+2 coupe with an engine located in the rear overhang — just like the Porsche 911. In 1984, the A310 was replaced by a more modern model Renault Alpine GTA, later renamed A610, it retained the fundamental layout of its predecessor. In the new Alpine A310, you can expect only some design features of historical ancestors; there will be no overloaded stern — electric cars in this regard are much easier to design. It is curious that Porsche is not yet going to turn the 911 into an electric car and at least until the end of this decade this model will retain an internal combustion engine.

Another good news is that Alpine wants to build a working prototype of the Alpenglow hydrogen supercar based on last year's concept of the same name, that is, Alpine also has a stunning flagship sports car looming ahead, but this is still strong a distant prospect, which can only be thought about after seven other electrical innovations have successfully entered the market and proven to be quite successful.
