The premiere of a refreshed truck from the American brand will take place at the Detroit International Auto Show, which will open its doors this week.
The mid-size Jeep Gladiator pickup truck is in some ways the successor to the Comanche truck, the production of which was discontinued back in 1992. True, the Gladiator appeared on the market much later – in the spring of 2019. Let us remind you that this pickup truck is based on the same platform on which the Wrangler JL is based: we are talking about a fourth-generation frame SUV, the production of which started in 2018.

The American manufacturer declassified the updated Jeep Wrangler back in April of this year. Now it’s the turn of the Gladiator pickup: the official debut of the refreshed car will take place at the Detroit International Auto Show, which starts next Wednesday, September 13. In the meantime, on the eve of the imminent premiere, the brand decided to tease fans of the model with a couple of teasers of the new product.
These pictures cannot be called particularly informative: the photo shows part of the side with a windshield and a large exterior mirror, as well as a “piece” stern with canopy and loading platform. It is obvious that the updated pickup will go the same way as the previously presented refreshed Wrangler SUV.

So, most likely, during the update, the Jeep Gladiator will be equipped with a new, not as high as before, radiator grille with seemingly “stuck together” slots. The pickup will also likely receive an antenna integrated into the windshield frame, which will replace the previous “pin.” The refreshed truck will probably have other original wheels (for a frame SUV, their size varies from 17 to 20 inches). In addition, models can expand the color palette.
We can assume that the interior will also be updated similarly to the current Wrangler. Thus, the SUV was refreshed with a redesigned instrument panel, as well as a new Uconnect 5 infotainment system with a 12.3-inch touchscreen. Round air ducts were replaced by narrow rectangular ones located under the multimedia screen.

What the “filling” of the updated Gladiator pickup truck will be will become known during the presentation. Note that the Wrangler SUV was deprived of a diesel engine, but it was left with all gasoline engines, including a 2.0-liter turbo-four (274 hp, 400 Nm), a 3.6-liter naturally aspirated V6 (289 hp, 353 Nm), as well as a 6.4-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine (476 hp, 637 Nm). There is also a plug-in hybrid installation, which is based on a 2.0-liter engine (380 hp, 637 Nm). A six-speed manual is available only for V6 variants, while the rest of the engines and the hybrid are only available with an eight-speed automatic.
It is worth recalling that Europeans will soon have to say goodbye to the Jeep Gladiator: the local representative office recently announced the start of orders for the farewell version with the addition of FarOut to the name. In Germany, the starting price of such a pickup truck is 77,500 euros. The manufacturer explained the corresponding decision by the desire to focus on promoting electrified models in this market.
