Intense card game in Indonesia wins international photo competition

A photograph of an intense card game in Bogor, Indonesia, won this year's CEWE Photo Award, beating out more than half a million other entries.

Photograph of Ariany Dikye, winner as in the «People» category and in the «People» category. The overall competition features «a place where people meet and hang out in the countryside.»

Its name Warung Kopi refers to a type of small eatery that is considered an integral part of Indonesian life.

Thomas Mels , CEWE board member, said: “This year's winner captures an authentic look into everyday life in Indonesia with her stunning photograph.”

“At the same time, she manages to capture the beauty of the moment. Its motif perfectly reflects the motto of the CEWE Photo Prize: “Our world is beautiful.”

The world's largest photo competition also revealed the winners in ten categories, including shots of glowing volcanoes, mysterious architecture and the enchanting banks of the Nile.

For every photograph submitted to the competition, CEWE donates 10 cents to SOS Children's Villages around the world. This means that the charity will receive €50,961 this year.
