Of course, the successor to the once popular hatchback will be an electric car. Technically, the model will repeat the upcoming Renault 4 compact, while the new product of the Japanese brand will have an original design.
Nissan presented the Concept 20-23 electric show car. It was announced that the prototype was prepared for the 20th anniversary of the brand's London design studio. Hence the numbers in the name: “twenty” — in honor of the anniversary, and 2 and 3 not only indicate the current year, but also the name of the brand itself, because in Japanese they sound like ni and san, respectively.

The concept was created by a young studio team. According to Alfonso Albaisa, Nissan's chief stylist, the team was given a «simple brief»: to design «a fun electric city car that would be fun to drive around London every day.» The result is a three-door hot hatch inspired by the “world of online racing.”
The exterior features of the Nissan Concept 20-23 are an impressive body kit, optics in the form of LED half-rings, rising doors, cameras instead of mirrors and a large spoiler. In addition, the hatchback has many slots: it is stated that each of them is functional and provides redirection of air flow. The interior was shown only in renderings, and it is quite futuristic, although, judging by the presence of pedals, the designers did not dream up a full-fledged autopilot.

Meanwhile, even though there is not a word about this in today’s release, the concept has a more important function — in fact, it outlined the successor to the Nissan Micra, since the electric car that Nissan revealed last year had similar stylistic solutions. Note that the brand itself previously called the upcoming compact the successor to the Micra, that is, it is not a fact that the commercial “electric train” will inherit the name of the “hydrocarbon” model.

The serial Nissan electric hatch will have a five-door body. The successor to the Micra will be the brother of the Renault 5, which is also presented only as a concept for now. The models will share the CMF-B EV platform and will be produced in France. Renault's conveyor electric car will debut next year, followed by Nissan's new product.

By the way, today the European division of Nissan announced the acceleration of electrification: from now on, every new model of the brand in the Old World will be fully electric, and by 2030 the company plans to sell only “green” products in Europe.
