“There’s no turning back now,” — Nissan CEO Makoto Uchida said in a statement.
The Japanese automaker said one of the two new electric vehicle models it has already confirmed for Europe will be produced at its plant in Sunderland in north-east England.
Speaking to reporters in London after unveiling an electric concept vehicle, CEO Uchida declined to say when the first of several planned electric vehicles would be launched.
Nissan's new goal of going all-electric in Europe by 2030 sets Nissan at on par with alliance partner Renault, which plans to make the Renault brand fully electric by then. Ford and Stellantis also plan to go all-electric in Europe by 2030. Volvo plans to sell only electric cars worldwide by 2030
