Manchester United have suffered another major injury blow from Lisandro. Martinez is expected to miss about 10 weeks after aggravating a foot injury he suffered late last season.
Martinez missed the final seven and a half weeks of last season after breaking a metatarsal in his right foot in April. .
The Argentine central midfielder returned to action in pre-season but suffered a setback during the 3-1 defeat to Arsenal earlier this month and now faces another lengthy layoff.
Martinez has been involved in recent defeats against Brighton and Bayern Munich after the international break.
But the injury is so serious that Martinez needs an extended spell on the sidelines to deal a new defensive blow to United boss Eric. ten Hag.
Martinez requires further assessment but is expected to be out for the same period of time as the original injury.
A 10-week absence will mean Martinez will miss the next match. 10 Premier League matches plus four Champions League group matches and a League Cup fourth-round home tie with Newcastle.

Jadon Sancho remains unavailable due to his row with Ten. Witch, but Anthony is available for selection again.
