For residents of the Old World, a SUV with an unusual design is offered exclusively in the form of a hybrid, and there are several such versions.
The world premiere of the second generation Toyota C-HR SUV took place in the summer. As the company stated then, the model was developed primarily for the Old World; it will still be made by the Turkish Toyota plant. The start of “live” sales is scheduled only for the beginning of next year, but in some European countries prices have already been announced and orders are being accepted: in particular, you can reserve a new product in Germany and France.

Let us remind you that in the new generation, the crossover retained the GA-C platform: the wheelbase remained the same (2640 mm), while the length of the car decreased by 25 mm to 4360 mm, but it added 25 mm in width (now 1830 mm). The exterior was designed in the new corporate style of the brand, features — C-shaped head optics (like the latest Prius), flip-out door handles and rear lights made in the form of a single die. In the cabin there is a 12.3-inch virtual instrument panel (installed by default) and a new multimedia system with the ability to update over the air and remote access from a smartphone (the size of the tablet depends on the configuration).
As promised during the presentation, in Europe the Toyota C-HR crossover is available only with hybrid units based on gasoline engines; all versions have an electromechanical variator. The basic modification is a naturally aspirated 1.8 (98 hp) and an electric motor with a power of 94 hp, the total output is 140 hp, such a crossover only comes with front-wheel drive. The “medium” hybrid version received an aspirated 2.0 (152 hp): the front-wheel drive C-HR has an electric motor with 111 hp, and the all-wheel drive has an additional 41 hp electric motor installed on the rear axle, but the total output does not depend depending on drive type – 198 hp Such hybrids are equipped with a battery with a capacity of 0.98 kWh.

The top version is a rechargeable hybrid, it has a similar naturally aspirated 2.0 engine, but the electric motor produces 163 hp, the total power is 233 hp. A 13.8 kWh battery is installed under the rear seat of the Toyota C-HR PHEV; the car can travel 66 km on electric power alone. But the plug-in hybrid cross does not have all-wheel drive.

For the French, the SUV is offered in four basic trim levels and two “welcome” versions. The cheapest cross (Dynamic) has 17-inch wheels, LED optics, a rain sensor, multimedia with an 8-inch screen, a rear view camera, dual-zone climate control and the Toyota Safety Sense complex. The Design version comes with 18-inch wheels, front parking sensors, a rear traffic warning system, atmospheric interior lighting, heated front seats and a heated steering wheel. The Collection version includes 19-inch wheels, wireless charging for a smartphone, an electric tailgate and a multimedia system with a 12.3-inch tablet. The Toyota C-HR GR Sport has a “sporty” look and equipment of the “collector’s” version. Well, the special Collection Premier and GR Sport Premier variants additionally have a head-up display, a panoramic roof (without a sunroof), adaptive high beams and all-round cameras, plus the “sport” has 20-inch wheels.
In Germany there are fewer trim levels (but “welcome” ones are also present), but there are already 18-inch wheels in the basic version of Team Germany, large screen, heated steering wheel and front seats.
In France, “simple” hybrids cost 34,900 – 49,400 euros, Toyota C-HR PHEV costs 44,900 – 53,400 euros. For Germans, the model will cost more: the basic one costs from 38,190 euros, the rechargeable hybrid – from 48,990 euros.
