Daring Chinese: Tank 500 in Arctic Trucks style

More recently, the tuning company Arctic Trucks presented its vision of the Chinese Tank 300 SUV, but we decided to imagine what the older model could look like with an index of 500 with similar modifications.

The Arctic Trucks company was founded in Iceland in 1990, transforming from a subsidiary of Toyota Motor Iceland. It specializes in modifying SUVs for difficult climatic and geographical operating conditions. The latest project of the Russian division of Arctic Trucks is the extreme version of the Chinese SUV Tank 300, it was introduced last week. It is likely that in the future the company will add to its portfolio the flagship model of the Chinese brand on the Russian market, the Tank 500, but for now we have imagined what could come of this.

The SUV depicted in the renderings received a significantly increased ground clearance (for example, the ground clearance of the modified Tank 300 increased by 48 mm and reached 272 mm). Last but not least, this was the result of the installation of large off-road wheels with a diameter of 35 inches with branded rims. Such wheels also require wheel arch extensions, which are present on most of the tuning company's projects. In addition, the Tank 500 received protective chrome pipes under the front and rear bumpers, as well as a snorkel on the right front fender.

The engine is usually not affected in Arctic Trucks projects, and this was the case with the Tank 300 model. The “500th” is equipped with a 3.0-liter petrol biturbo V6 with a power of 299 hp. in the Russian version. In the home market in China, the engine produces 354 hp, while the torque is the same — 500 Nm. A 9-speed automatic is used as a transmission; all-wheel drive is implemented according to the Torque on Demand scheme: traction is constantly transmitted to the rear axle, the front axle is connected if necessary.

Today in Russia, the flagship Chinese SUV is offered in two trim levels: the basic Adventure is estimated at 6,299,000 rubles, and the top-end Premium is 600 thousand more expensive.
