The «flight» to Mars will begin on November 14
Six volunteers who will be isolated from the world for a whole year were presented by the Institute of Medical and Biological Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences at the XVIII Conference on Space and Aerospace Medicine , which began work in Moscow on November 7. For the first time, a representative of Belarus was included in the crew.
According to the SIRIUS program, the interplanetary spacecraft, the functions of which will be performed by the scientific and experimental complex of the institute, will set off on a “flight” along the Earth-Mars-Earth route for a whole year.
The team that went through a special selection system included: production automation specialist from Novosibirsk Yuri Chebotarev (crew commander), Khabarovsk Airlines pilot Anzhelika Parfenova, allergist Ksenia Orlova, Olga Mastitskaya — junior researcher at the Institute of Physical-Organic Chemistry of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, junior researcher at IBMP Ksenia Shishenina and doctor Rustam Zaripov.
The experiment will involve many medical-biological, physiological and psychological experiments.
For example, Anzhelika Parfenova will be responsible for conducting an experiment on studying bone density during long-term isolation.
