MOSCOW, November 16. The collapse of part of a house in Astrakhan, preliminary, occurred due to construction and repair work in one of the apartments, reported the regional department of the Investigative Committee of Russia in the Telegram channel.
“According to preliminary data, the collapse occurred during construction and repair work in one of the apartments of the above-mentioned building by unidentified persons, as a result of which the load-bearing structures were damaged,” the statement says.

On Thursday evening, the operational duty shift of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for the Astrakhan Region received a message about the appearance of a crack in the outer wall of a five-story residential building at the address: Vokzalnaya Square, 1A. Rescuers arrived at the scene and the evacuation of residents began. At 18:27, the third and fourth entrances of the building collapsed.

According to preliminary data, one woman died, several people are listed as missing.
In total, 213 people were taken out of the house, including including 37 children.
176 rescuers and 39 pieces of equipment are working on site. Minutes of silence are periodically announced.
A criminal case has been opened under articles of causing death by negligence and destruction of property by negligence.
