Ten years ago, on November 25, 2013, Sao Paulo goalkeeper Rogerio Ceni surpassed Pele's unique achievement. The King of Football made 1,116 appearances for Santos, while the Brazilian goalkeeper wore the tricolor for the 1,117th time. By 2015, when Ceni retired, the goalkeeper, who had played for the title club for 23 years, had brought this figure to 1256, which to this day remains an absolute record for the number of matches for one team.
However, fans do not associate the name of the 50-year-old goalkeeper with this success. The Brazilian holds the record for the most goals scored among football goalkeepers, and it is difficult to imagine that in the coming years (or even decades) anyone will overthrow the legend from the top. In 2006, thanks to his goalscoring achievements, he was even included in the Guinness Book of Records.

It is not easy to remember the absolute stars of football who never made it to Europe. Now working as the head coach at the Brazilian club Bahia, Sena is one of them. Even in his youth, Seni tried to hit the post with the ball from a long distance during training. So, having adjusted the sight, the goalkeeper learned to masterfully take free kicks and 11-meter kicks – the moment when the goalkeeper would be made a full-time performer of these kicks in Sao Paulo became a matter of time.

In total, Seni scored 61 times from free kicks and 69 from penalties; he scored another goal after a free kick. Another legendary “forward with gloves,” Jose Luis Chilavert, was left far behind (the Paraguayan scored 62 goals).
