MOSCOW, November 30. Head coach of the National Hockey League club ( NHL) Philadelphia Flyers John Tortorella called Russian forward Matvey Michkov a crazy Russian, journalist Bill Meltzer reports on social network X.
In the 2023 NHL Draft, Michkov was selected by Philadelphia in the first round, seventh overall.
The coach also noted that he wants the aggressive hockey mentality to become second nature to the “pilots” by the time the Russian arrives.
Michkov plays for Sochi on loan this season, where he played 28 matches and scored 26 points (11 goals and 15 assists). He also played in one match for SKA St. Petersburg, which owns the rights to the 18-year-old forward. In total, he has 72 matches and 51 points (22+29) in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL).
