MOSCOW, December 15 The Moscow City Court sentenced a member of a gang that attacked bookmakers and lottery clubs to 12 years in a maximum security colony, the press service of the capital's prosecutor's office reports.
«The Moscow City Court, on the basis of a guilty verdict by a panel of jurors, rendered a verdict in a criminal case against a resident of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, 36-year-old Amir Odizhev. The court sentenced Odizhev to 12 years in prison to serve the sentence in a maximum security correctional colony» , — the message says.
As it was established in court, from April to August 2012, Odizhev was part of a gang whose members committed robberies against bookmakers and lottery clubs in Moscow. They threatened employees and visitors with weapons, physically assaulted them, and stole money, jewelry, mobile phones, as well as video surveillance systems and club funds. Odizhev personally participated in one robbery.
In 2014, four gang members were sentenced to long terms of imprisonment. The criminal case against Odizhev was separated into separate proceedings due to his being on the wanted list; he was detained in October 2022.
Odizhev was accused of banditry and robbery with a weapon, with illegal entry into a home by an organized group.
The verdict has not entered into legal force.
