Tardif responded to rumors about Russia's expulsion from the IIHF

PETERSBURG, December 16, Andrey Senchenko President The International Hockey Federation (IIHF), Luc Tardif, stated that the organization’s further actions in the case of CSKA Moscow goalkeeper Ivan Fedotov depend on the Russian Hockey Federation (RHF), the capital’s club and the athlete himself.
Previously, the independent disciplinary council of the IIHF rejected the appeals of CSKA and the team's goalkeeper Ivan Fedotov against the decision on sanctions. Prior to this, the IIHF refused to register CSKA’s contract with the goalkeeper for the new season of the Continental Hockey League (KHL), the hockey player was disqualified for four months from September 1, and the capital club was banned from international transfers for a year. On Saturday, Match TV reported that the FHR may lose its membership in the IIHF due to the situation with Fedotov.

In 2022, after winning the Gagarin Cup with CSKA, Fedotov signed a contract with the Philadelphia Flyers, but was detained at the military registration and enlistment office and sent to a military unit for military service. On July 8, 2023, the KHL registered Fedotov’s new contract with CSKA. The National Hockey League (NHL) and Philadelphia insist that the goaltender's 2022 deal with the Flyers must continue through the 2023-24 season.
