MOSCOW, December 16 People's Artist of the RSFSR, film director, actor Nikita Mikhalkov called Russian President Vladimir on air Putin is the only powerful leader in world politics, noting that thanks to the head of state and his team, the country survived the difficult period of sanctions.
«»I am sure that this (Putin's support — ed.) is absolutely natural. There should be nothing surprising in this. Today Putin is the only, real, powerful leader of world politics. And no one should be surprised that so many people want to support (his candidacy in the elections — ed.), because those who do not support him are either not smart or harmful,” Mikhalkov said on the Rossiya 24 TV channel.
According to him, everyone else who understands that thanks to Putin and his team, the country at some point “moved back from the edge of the abyss, built up muscles and held on in the most difficult moments of sanctions, which, in principle, were designed to to say, destroy our country,” this is the merit of him and the people who believed him. “That’s why we don’t have another leader and there shouldn’t be,” the artist noted.
He emphasized that unfriendly countries will do everything to interfere with Russia during the presidential elections. In his opinion, this should not be allowed.
The unity of the people and the absence of compromise will help with this, because “our kindness is mistaken for weakness,” Mikhalkov believes.
Previously, Putin announced his participation in the Russian presidential elections, which will take place on March 17, 2024. Putin was elected president of Russia four times — in 2000, 2004, 2012 and 2018. After the adoption of amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation, he received the right to stand as a candidate in new presidential elections in 2024.
