The model of the American brand, owned by the auto giant Stellantis, produces a maximum of 1039 hp. and 1281 Nm. From zero to “hundreds” the car accelerates in 1.66 seconds.
The American brand launched production of the Challenger model back in 1970, and production continued intermittently. The current generation model appeared in 2008, and it underwent restyling in 2015. In 2022, it became known that the 2023 model year would be the last for the current Charger sedan and Challenger coupe. It is expected that these models will have successors, but they will already be equipped with all-electric powertrains. Dodge decided to solemnly retire current cars: with the help of several farewell versions, the SRT Demon 170 became the top one.

Now production of the Dodge Challenger has been completed: the last copy of the coupe rolled off the assembly line at the end of last week, as reported by American Cars and Racing. It is known that the final muscle car was the Challenger SRT Demon 170 with a black body (there are no pictures from the production line yet). It is still unknown whether this two-door will go to the Dodge collection, or whether it was sold at a charity auction in June (the coupe was auctioned for $700,000).
Previously, we talked in more detail about how the top-end special version of the SRT Demon 170, which debuted in March 2023, differs from the regular coupe. Thus, the “one hundred and seventieth” represents the evolution of the civilian drag version of the Challanger SRT Demon; The number «170» is a reference to the factory designation C170 of the Hellephant V8 engine. Note that Demon was introduced in 2017, and its circulation was limited to 3,300 copies.
It is curious that the Challenger SRT Demon 170 does not have a 7.0-liter Hellephant engine under the hood, but a modified compressor 6.2-liter V8 HEMI. It is known that when running on E85 fuel (15% gasoline, 85% ethanol), its maximum output is 1039 hp. at 6500 rpm and 1281 Nm at 4200 rpm. In turn, when running on E10 fuel (90% gasoline, 10% ethanol), the output is reduced to 912 hp. and 1098 Nm, but even this is more than the Demon’s 2017 model – 852 hp. and 1044 Nm.
As Kolesa.ru reported earlier, the engine equipped with the Challenger SRT Demon 170 has a new drive supercharger with an increased volume (boost pressure has increased by 40%), more efficient fuel injectors, new cylinder heads, more heat-resistant valves, reinforced pistons and connecting rods, Bearings and studs became more durable, spark plugs were optimized for working with alcohol, etc. The engine is paired with a reinforced eight-speed hydromechanical automatic transmission. The coupe takes just 1.66 seconds to accelerate from zero to almost 100 km/h (96.6 km/h), and 8.91 seconds to travel a quarter mile (402 meters).

This car also received a suspension with adjustable Bilstein shock absorbers, which is optimized for drag racing; in particular, the engineers used relatively “soft” ones springs and anti-roll bars. It was decided to install lightweight Brembo brakes at the front. The special version of the coupe received aluminum or composite (aluminum hub, carbon fiber rim) wheels, tires — Mickey Thompson ET Street (245/55 R 18 front and 315/50 R 17 rear).
Coupe The Challenger SRT Demon 170 was equipped with a docked Widebody body kit without front wheel arch extensions (to reduce weight), a different shaped air intake on the hood, a yellow eye on the Demon emblem, memorial plaques and nameplates indicating a special version. As the company promised, the final copy of the model left the assembly line before December 31, 2023.
