The premium crossover Wey 05 from Great Wall is about to launch in Russia

Sales are expected to begin in February. The Chinese SUV will be available as an all-wheel drive rechargeable hybrid.

The fact that the premium brand Wey, owned by Great Wall, will officially enter the Russian market was announced last fall — our first-born will be a large crossover with the index 05. Now we have decided on the debut date: you can buy an SUV will be from February, and in the Russian Federation sales and service will be handled by dealers of another brand of the Chinese concern — Tank.

The crossover has been present in its homeland since 2021, where it is called Wey Mocca (or Mocha), and in 2023 the model underwent restyling. However, in Russia, as well as in other export markets, it was decided to sell the pre-reform SUV. By the way, in Europe the five-door was previously presented as Wey Coffee 01, but this year the “old world” version was also renamed Wey 05.

In its dimensions, the “five” is comparable to the current Lexus RX. The length of the “Chinese” (in European specification) is 4870 mm, width – 1960 mm, height – 1690 mm, wheelbase – 2910 mm. The Wey 05 has elongated LED headlights and taillights, shiny grille accents and retractable door handles.

In the five-seater cabin there are separate screens for the instrument panel and multimedia system; another touch panel is installed under the central air deflectors; it controls the climate control, heated seats and a massager. The equipment list of our crossover also includes an active noise reduction system and a head-up display with augmented reality.

On the Russian market, Wey 05 will be offered as a rechargeable all-wheel drive PHEV hybrid. The installation included a 2.0 petrol turbo-four and a pair of electric motors. According to preliminary data, the total output of the version for the Russian Federation is 295 hp. They haven't talked about the battery yet. The European cross has a battery with a capacity of 39.67 kWh, and on electric power alone it is capable of traveling 146 km on the WLTP cycle.

Wey 05 configurations and prices for Russia will be revealed closer to the start date of sales. Meanwhile, last year Great Wall also introduced the Ora electric brand to our market. In total, five brands of the concern are now represented in the Russian Federation: in addition to Ora, Wey and Tank, these are also GWM Pickup and Haval.
