The company has already produced a pilot batch of electric four-door cars; they intend to sell these cars within the Kaliningrad region in order to collect data on the first operating experience. Subsequently, deep localization of the model is planned.
At the beginning of February, the Kaliningrad Avtotor plant announced the creation of the Amberauto electric vehicle brand. As it was reported then, this brand will produce both models of its own design and vehicles created as part of “technological cooperation with a number of partners.” And now the first-born has been announced — it is the Amberauto A5 electric sedan, and this is just a “joint” model.

The partner has not been named, but in the Amberauto A5 one can easily recognize the Chinese electric car JMEV Yi (aka GSE) from the joint venture of JMC (Jiangling Motors Corporation) and Renault. By the way, Renault itself also sold a similar four-door: in Europe, the model was presented under the Mobilize sub-brand, a sedan named Limo was intended mainly for taxis, but last fall it became known that the “electric train” left the “old-world” market due to weak demand.
As reported in the Avtotor press service, the Russian company released the first A5 electric sedans at the end of 2023, and today “a deep localization plan has been developed” for the model. It provides for the maximum number of localized components – including “critical” ones. In particular, the cars will receive electric motors, batteries, gearboxes, inverters, electronic systems and other components, the production of which will start in 2024-2025. at new factories created at the Kaliningrad production site. It was also announced that the model has been adapted for use in the Russian climate, and has also been certified. The pilot batch is going to be implemented within the Kaliningrad region in order to “get the first operating experience here.”
< p>The length of our Amberauto A5 is 4675 mm, width – 1835 mm, height – 1480 mm, wheelbase – 2750 mm. That is, in terms of its dimensions, the electric sedan is comparable to the pre-reform Hyundai Elantra. The new Kaliningrad four-door has McPherson struts at the front and a multi-link at the rear.
The Russian sedan is equipped with an electric motor with an output of 160 hp. and 225 Nm (installed on the front axle) and a battery with a capacity of 60.2 kWh. The rated power reserve is 520 km on the CLTC cycle. It is also stated that the warranty for the traction battery will be 8 years or 150,000 km, for other components — 3 years or 100,000 km.
