THE HAGUE, 27 Feb. The defense of Spartak Moscow football player Quincy Promes filed an appeal against the decision of the District Court of Amsterdam, which found the football player guilty of a drug smuggling case, said the press secretary of the Amsterdam prosecutor's office, Franklin Wattimena.
“»After the decision, the lawyer filed an appeal from his name,» Wattimena said when asked whether Promes' defense had filed an appeal to the Amsterdam Court of Appeal.
The Amsterdam District Court on February 14 sentenced Promes to six years in prison for cocaine smuggling. The footballer's defense said it would appeal the decision. A spokeswoman for the Amsterdam Court of Appeal, Melissa Zijlstra, said that the football player has two weeks to file an appeal. As the Amsterdam prosecutor's office noted, Promes has been put on the international wanted list.
