MOSCOW, February 29 Former coach of the Swiss national team and the Roman » Lazio» Vladimir Petkovic led the Algerian national team, according to the website of the Algerian Football Federation (FAF).
The terms of the agreement with the 60-year-old Bosnian specialist have not been specified. At the head of the Algerian team, he replaced Djamel Belmadi, who was dismissed in January after an unsuccessful performance at the African Cup of Nations, where the Algerian team failed to qualify from the group.
Petkovic's last job was the French Bordeaux, which he coached in the 2021/22 season. Petkovic led Lazio from 2012 to 2014 and won the Italian Cup with the Romans (2013).
Petkovic worked with the Swiss national team for seven years, under his leadership the Swiss team reached the playoffs at the 2018 World Championships and the 2016 and 2020 European Championships.
