A large electric four-door will hit the home market before the end of this year. According to preliminary data, the model will be offered with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
In the form of a pre-production prototype with the index E001, the new electric sedan of the premium brand Hongqi (owned by the FAW concern) debuted in the spring of 2023. In China, pre-orders began to be accepted immediately after the presentation, although neither prices nor all characteristics were disclosed then. Then there were spy photos of the conveyor version and leaks from the local Ministry of Industry. Now the brand itself has announced a serial four-door: the model will go on sale as the Hongqi EH7.

The electric car is built on the new modular FME platform. According to the certificate, the length of the Hongqi EH7 is 4980 mm, width – 1915 mm, height – 1490 mm, wheelbase – 3000 mm. Thus, in terms of its dimensions, the sedan is comparable to the Exeed Sterra ES from Chery (this model will come to Russia under the Exlantix brand).
The exterior is made in a new style developed for Hongqi electric trains. Design features of the EH7 are fanged head optics (running lights are located on top, adjacent to them are compact blocks of main headlights), rear lights of a similar format, a short “tail” of the trunk and a glass roof. And no Rolls-Royce motives! The Hongqi EH7 has a sleek nose and replaces the red crest with a new emblem for the green.

The virtual tidy and large touchscreen of the multimedia system are placed in a single panel, but the sedan does not have the usual rectangular display, but a streamlined body. There is a touch strip under the central screen that duplicates the control of some functions. In addition, the list of equipment includes a head-up display and a facial recognition system.
The Hongqi EH7 is expected to be available in two variants. “Simple” sedans have a 344-horsepower electric motor installed on the rear axle. Expensive versions are all-wheel drive, with an additional 275-horsepower engine at the front. The total output of the twin-engine EH7 is 619 hp. and 756 Nm. According to preliminary data, the all-wheel drive sedan will reach the first “hundred” in 3.9 seconds. The battery also seems to have two versions, but the capacity has not yet been revealed. Chinese media write that with a basic battery the range will be 600 km, and it can be changed at a special station. A more durable version will travel 800 km, but the battery cannot be replaced. However, these figures are probably calculated according to the Chinese cycle, that is, the actual range may be less.
The Hongqi EH7 should make its full premiere in the near future. The premium sub-brand FAW is also represented in Russia; the local range already includes an electric car – the large crossover Hongqi E-HS9. That is, an electric sedan can also reach our market.
