George Galloway, an ardent socialist and champion of the poor, drove into Rochdale Suzuki and set up his soap box next to a matching red Mercedes coupe.
“We defeated the Labor Party by a margin of 10,000 votes,” he roared to the applause of his crowd of supporters. as a black Mercedes 4X4 glowed in the background. A few minutes before his arrival, at 3:30 a.m., a blue Lamborghini pulled up outside a car showroom in an industrial area near the city center.
It was the most incongruous setting as Galloway protested Rochdale's descent into poverty while in surrounded by the attributes of automotive luxury.
He arrived hand in hand with Putri Gayatri Pertiwi, his fourth wife and Dutch-Indonesian anthropologist, the couple raising their clasped hands in celebration.
She dressed appropriately for the occasion: red ankle boots, black skinny jeans and brightly colored a green top embodying the colors of the Palestinian flag.

Following his departure, the ugly side of his campaign reared its head when a supporter brought in a giant poster of Sir Keir Starmer's head. The words “Starmer for Genocide” were emblazoned on his forehead, and the Labor leader was depicted crying black tears and wearing fang-shaped incisors.
