ST. PETERSBURG, 2 Mar. People's Artist of Russia and Ukraine Valery Ivchenko died at the age of 84, the Bolshoi Drama Theater named after Tovstonogov reported on the telegram channel.
«On March 2, the artist of the Bolshoi Drama Theater named after G. A. Tovstonogov, People's Artist, passed away Russia and Ukraine Valery Mikhailovich Ivchenko,” the statement says.
Ivchenko was born on November 20, 1939 in Kupyansk, Kharkov region. In 1961, he graduated from the studio at the Kharkov Shevchenko Drama Theater, and in 1978, from the directing department of the Kyiv State Institute of Theater Arts.
In 1983, the artist was invited to the Bolshoi Drama Theater in St. Petersburg. There he served until his death.
Ivchenko received the title of People's Artist of the Ukrainian SSR in 1980, People's Artist of Russia — in 1994.
In addition to participating in BDT performances, the actor starred in films and TV series.
