Brussels explained the refusal of EU ambassadors to meet with Lavrov

The ambassadors of the EU member states rejected invitation to a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov due to the low level of trust. This statement was made on Monday, March 4, at the representation of the European Union.

We are talking about inviting European diplomats to the Russian Foreign Ministry in connection with the upcoming presidential elections in the Russian Federation. The Foreign Ministry intended to discuss the topic of election interference with the ambassadors and make recommendations in this regard. However, the invitees decided not to attend the meeting with Lavrov.

The Permanent Mission of the European Union confirmed that they had received the invitation, but “without any proposals on the agenda,” RBC reports.

Earlier, Sergei Lavrov emphasized that Russians do not have negative feelings towards the American people. The minister also noted that he has many good comrades who live in the United States.

Russian Foreign Ministry Speaker Maria Zakharova invited the US Ambassador to Moscow to support her fellow citizens, pointing out that those representing the United States at the World Youth Festival Americans expressed a desire to be friends with Russia.
