YAROSLAVL, February 29The Yaroslavl region is counting on the support of the federal authorities in implementing plans to open an advanced engineering school in the space field on the basis of the Yaroslavl Radio Plant (YARZ, part of the Russian Space Systems (RSS) holding of Roscosmos), said Governor Mikhail Evraev.
President Vladimir Putin, in his address to the Federal Assembly, announced plans to increase the number of advanced engineering schools in Russia to 100.
“We have already won one advanced school — on the basis of the Russian State Aviation Technical University in Rybinsk. And we are thinking about applying for another engineering school — not in engine building, but in space science. We have all the prerequisites for this. We have a basic enterprise «Roscosmos — Yaroslavl Radio Plant, there are specialized universities, and I believe that we can compete for a second school. We will work on this project with our colleagues,» Evraev said.
In his Telegram channel, the governor noted that the government of the Yaroslavl region plans to receive a federal grant for the construction of the Mercury engineering campus on the basis of RSATU (Rybinsk Aviation Technical University named after Solovyov).
““These resources will make it possible to create a powerful scientific and technological environment in the Yaroslavl region and train highly qualified specialists for enterprises in the region and throughout Russia,” wrote Evraev.
