Athletic Bilbao striker Nico Williams is on Chelsea's radar as the club begins to draw up plans for the summer transfer window.
Although a prolific striker will be a priority Chelsea, with Victor Osimhen and Benjamin Sesco among their top targets, are impressed with Williams' progress.
Given how expensive the striker would be, a move for Williams could depend on how well Chelsea create funds through the sale of players.
The 21-year-old Bilbao has a release clause in his contract worth around £43 million, which is relatively affordable, but his salary is said to be high.
Williams is believed to earn well over £100,000 a week after tax in Spain, which would place him among Chelsea's highest paid players.
Williams' move would also raise question marks over the long-term future of Raheem Sterling and , perhaps Mikhail Mudrik.
Although he can play on either flank, Williams often starts on the left, where both Sterling and Mudryk most often play, although head coach Mauricio Pochettino recently deployed the Ukrainian at number 10.
There. This is not a hint that Chelsea are looking to offload either Sterling or Mudrik this summer, and both players remain committed to the club.
Sterling was approached by Saudi Arabia last summer and he could get another one this year offer. . He was not interested in a move last year and there is no indication he will be this time around.
Chelsea's rivals believe the club needs to put together a minimum £100 million by June. 30 to ensure it meets profitability and sustainability rules — a figure that Chelsea refutes.
Williams is enjoying a superb season in Bilbao, which has attracted a host of clubs, including Arsenal, also linked with the player and the signatory of the contract. a new contract last December.
However, the new agreement, under which the player's release clause remains the same, will not stop clubs bidding for him this summer.
