MOSCOW, March 7, Svetlana Bonopartova. Former figure skater Tatyana Navka stated that she and Roman Kostomarov were born to meet and win together at the Olympic Games.
Navka performed in a duet with Kostomarov. At the 2006 Turin Olympics they won gold medals in ice dancing.
““18 years have passed, I look at us and admire. I say: how cool we were. We were born to meet and become Olympic champions,” Navka said in the film “Roman Kostomarov: Twice Born.”
In December, Kostomarov went on the ice with Navka for the first time after amputations. The skaters performed the «Carmen» program — with this free dance they won the Games in Italy.
““For the flag, for the anthem — that’s what everyone fought for. For me, “Carmen” is more than music. My whole life is the path of a bullfighter,” added Kostomarov.
Kostomarov was admitted to intensive care with pneumonia on January 10, 2023 and spent 175 days in the clinic. Due to the necrosis that developed, he underwent several amputations of his arms and legs. Later, he began to publish videos of training after prosthetics.
