Swatch store swarms with watch buyers after new collaboration with Omega

Watch buyers flocked . into Swatch stores in central London on Tuesday as the company released its latest collaboration with high-end designer Omega.

Snakling queues were seen outside the Swatch store in Covent Garden on Tuesday, with the store being one of five stores . where the company sold its «MoonSwatch: Mission To The MoonPhase» products.

The watch is part of a series of successful Omega-Swatch launches after the pair unveiled the MoonSwatch collection in 2022.

Both companies are part of the Swatch Group.

Each of the 11 watches in the MoonSwatch series was named after one of the planets, as well as the Sun and Moon.

At the time, thousands of customers lined up to buy them, and stores were only allowed to sell one per person.

The Carnaby Street store was forced to close after just half an hour due to chaotic scenes.

MoonSwatch series is a tribute the famous Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional, which was famously worn by astronauts including Buzz Aldrin.

At stores such as Goldsmiths, watches from the Omega Speedmaster range sell for up to £86,000. But the MoonSwatch is much cheaper, with the latest watch selling for £270.

The watch features a Velcro strap that features Snoopy, NASA's safety ambassador since the 1960s, on a moon phase disk.

This watch feature shows the different phases of the moon, such as when it is waning or waxing.

The watch also contains a hidden quote from the Snoopy comic that can be seen on the meter under ultraviolet light.

Cartoon items are often highly prized by collectors, with companies such as Rolex and Omega releasing limited edition watches featuring the characters Mickey Mouse and Snoopy.

Last June, the Gérald Genta Retro Disney Painting , depicting Donald Duck playing basketball, sold at auction for $20,320 (£16,000).

The Royal Oak Concept Flying Tourbillon Spiderman line can sell for approximately $400,000.
