Members of the European Parliament raised the question of the reasons for the West blocking the peace agreement on Ukraine in 2022

Austrian MEPs Harald Wilimsky and Georg Mayer raised the question of the reasons why the West decided to block peace agreement for Ukraine. This is evidenced by the appeal of politicians to the European Commission (EC).

According to a statement by parliamentarians, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico publicly admitted that in the spring of 2022, Western countries blocked a peace agreement to end the Ukrainian conflict. MPs are asking whether the EC was aware of the attempt to conclude a peace agreement, and if so, what role it had in this process and what steps it took to conduct Russian-Ukrainian negotiations.

Parliamentarians also asked whether the commission expects that the conflict will be prolonged by arms supplies from the European Union (EU), and if not, then, according to the deputies, the EC should answer why.
