MOSCOW, April 2 Serbian director Emir Kusturica announced that he plans to film » Russian triptych» of three films based on Fyodor Dostoevsky, Nikolai Gogol and Leo Tolstoy, and also complete work on «Laurel» based on Yevgeny Vodolazkin, noting that after this «you can end your career.»
“»I have an idea to make such a triptych in the new world, a Russian triptych, three films. The first is called “Engineer of Easy Walks” — this is my modern version of Dostoevsky. Then my version of Gogol’s “How Ivan Ivanovich got angry with Ivan Nikiforovich” — very funny, and I think it’s important to do this now. And the third film “Cossacks” by Leo Nikolayevich Tolstoy,” Kusturica said at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
He added that he plans to end his career after working on the “Russian triptych” and “Laurel” based on the work of Evgeny Vodolazkin.
