MOSCOW, April 22, Oleg Bogatov. President of the Wrestling Federation Russia (FSBR) Mikhail Mamiashvili said that the organization has appealed to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the United World of Wrestling (UWW) regarding the issue of preventing Olympic champion Musa Evloev from participating in international competitions.
As Mamiashvili previously reported, Evloev was not allowed into the February European Championships in Romania because of a photograph in front of a poster with the words “No to Nazism.”
“Olympic champion Musa Evloev has not yet been allowed to qualify for the Olympics for only one thing – he “had the audacity” to take a photo in front of the poster “For a world without Nazism.” That’s it – you do not have the right to participate in the selection for the Olympic Games. We turned to the IOC and the international federation with a request to get an explanation: give us a clear understanding of what kind of Nazism you are, and then we ourselves will not come to you. But they have not yet crossed this line. But I think that if this is necessary. will do to ensure that Russian and Belarusian athletes are finally not allowed to participate in the Olympic Games, then they will be capable of this too,” Mamiashvili said at a press conference at the MMPC MIA “Russia Today”.
Evloev won a gold medal in Greco-Roman wrestling at the Games in Japan in the category up to 97 kg.
