MOSCOW, April 22 Barcelona head coach Xavi is ready to remain in his position, despite previous statements about leaving the Catalan football club, Mundo Deportivo reports.
According to the source, in recent months Xavi has felt support within the club, and also saw that his young team continues to develop. In the coming days, the 44-year-old coach will meet with Barcelona president Joan Laporta and sporting director Deco to discuss the current situation and the terms of continued cooperation.
Xavi's contract is valid for one more year. At the end of January, he announced that he would leave Barcelona at the end of the current season. In early April, Mundo Deportivo reported that Xavi could change his mind if he receives guarantees from Barcelona that the club will not repeat the problems of the summer transfer window, when some transfers fell through due to non-compliance with financial rules.
Xavi has led the Blaugrana since November 2021. In 2023, he led Barcelona to victories in the Spanish Championship and the country's Super Cup.
