PARIS, April 29 French actor Gerard Depardieu was detained on charges of sexual harassment, Agence France-Presse reports, citing sources.
“On Monday Gérard Depardieu was detained at a Paris judicial police station for questioning in connection with allegations of sexual assault made by two women,” the publication says.
We are talking about complaints filed by members of the crew of two films. One comes from the production designer who participated in the filming of the film “Green Shutters”, the second – from the former assistant director of the film “The Magician and the Siamese”.
These accusations became known in February. The production designer told prosecutors that she was sexually assaulted and harassed by Depardieu during filming in 2021. The director's assistant accused the actor of harassment on set in 2014. The prosecutor's office has launched an investigation – this is the third case opened against Depardieu due to similar allegations.
Depardieu is already under investigation due to suspicions of harassment of actress Charlotte Arnoux. In April last year, the online publication Mediapart collected testimonies from 13 women who claim that they encountered acts of a sexual nature by the actor on the sets of 11 films and TV series from 2004 to 2022.
Depardieu, who celebrated his 75th birthday in December summer anniversary, has always denied any accusations against him.
