MOSCOW, April 30 Blocking YouTube is an equation that has no solution, it is not blocked, because there is no Russian alternative, and there is no alternative, because YouTube is not blocked and continues to remain the main video hosting for Russians, said Anton Gorelkin, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, on the Telegram channel.
“YouTube deleted several more Russian channels without explanation: “Witnesses and Gogua”, “Cart Show” and “Sorry, this is prank” were banned. One of them recently featured my interview, in which journalist Ilya Gogua and I both once we discussed why the American platform is doing this and how we should react. I repeat: blocking YouTube is an equation that has no solution. It is not blocked because it does not have a Russian alternative, but it does not exist because YouTube is not blocked. and continues to be the main video hosting for Russians,” Gorelkin wrote. 
< br />The deputy noted that Russian platforms need to get used to the idea that competition with YouTube is a loss-making story from a business point of view, which will require a lot of money.
“Which of the Russian platforms will be able to fulfill all these conditions and not go bankrupt is a good question. There is an opinion that we have too many video hosting sites, while consolidation is needed to fight YouTube. Perhaps Is it really time for our teams, who are now competing not only with the Americans, but with each other, to unite? I am convinced that the combination of the achievements of Russian companies will ultimately lead to the replacement of YouTube not only in Russia, but also give the opportunity to publish and watch videos without American censorship to residents of friendly countries. And our state will certainly be very interested in such a project,” he emphasized.
