    Applications for the Sber Science Prize 2024 are now open

    Sber announced the launch of an annual scientific award in support of scientists working in Russia. The event will help the bright minds of the country to continue to conduct active research activities and open up new prospects for the development of science and technology.

    Applications can be submitted in three areas: “Physical World”, “Life Sciences” and “Digital Universe”. The total prize fund of the third season of the award reached 60 million rubles. The award ceremony for the three winners will take place before the end of the year. Nomination “Physical World” focuses on physics, chemistry, astronomy, earth science and engineering; participants of the competition in the field of “Life Sciences” are engaged in biology, medicine and agricultural sciences; and the contenders for the award in the “Digital Universe” direction explore mathematics, mathematical methods in economics, computer science and information science, including artificial intelligence and machine learning.

    “Science gives all of us and the country a vision of the future and opens up new horizons, constantly inventing and reinventing our entire world. Moreover, the role of science and technology is growing every year, as scientific and technological progress continues to accelerate. We consider it very important to support Russian science, and one of the components of this support was our Scientific Prize, which we established in 2021. This year we will present the awards for the third time. And we are very glad that other representatives of Russian business are following our example, understanding that support for science and scientists — this is a contribution to the future of the country, to its advanced scientific and technological development, technological sovereignty and high competitiveness on the world stage,” – said the president, chairman of the board of Sberbank German Gref.

    Together with German Gref, the co-chairman of the award committee this year was the rector of the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Kuleshov.

    It is reported that scientists working in Russia who have contributed to the development of science and technology and continue to be active will be nominated for the prize. The jury will consider scientific achievements over the past 10 years.

    Russian companies invited by the organizer that conduct scientific, research or educational activities will be able to nominate scientists. In addition, individual Russian and international scientists, entrepreneurs and representatives of the investment community in the technology sector are invited to participate in the competition.

    After an independent examination, the award winners will be determined by a committee of reputable scientists and specialists from various fields of science, as well as representatives of high-tech companies.

    We would like to remind you that the winners of the award will In 2021, 6 scientists have already received the Sber Scientific Prize, each of whom received financial support. In the “Digital Universe” nomination Academicians of the Russian Academy of Sciences and doctors of physical and mathematical sciences Alexander Kholevo and Evgeniy Tyrtyshnikov won. Alexander Gabibov, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, and Alexey Polilov, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Biological Sciences, received awards in the Life Sciences category. And the laureates of the prize in the field of “Physical World” became academicians of the Russian Academy of Sciences — Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Yuri Oganesyan and Doctor of Chemical Sciences Valentin Ananikov.
