MOSCOW, May 2. Vadim Averkin appointed to the post of general manager Nizhny Novgorod “Torpedo”, according to the Telegram channel of the club of the Continental Hockey League (KHL).
On Thursday, the club announced the departure of general director Maxim Gafurov. Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region Gleb Nikitin said that Gafurov will become deputy chairman of the regional government, but will continue close cooperation with Torpedo.

And at the international level he became the European champion among juniors and the champion of the Pacific Cup,” the statement says.
Averkin is 46 years old. After completing his sports career, he headed the department for work with the VHL and MHL in the KHL players’ union. From 2022 to 2023, the functionary served as sports director of the Vladivostok Admiral. Under him, the club made it to the second round of the Gagarin Cup for the first time.
