WASHINGTON, May 3. The American aerospace corporation Boeing has encountered difficulties in producing new aircraft due to sanctions imposed against Russia, the Wall Street Journal writes on Friday.
According to the publication, shortly after the start of a special military operation in Ukraine, the manufacturer of temperature control equipment for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner model, RTX, curtailed its work in the Russian Federation. At that time, the volume of supplies met demand, but now, when Boeing is trying to increase production, it turned out that the concern’s capacity in the US and UK is not enough.
< br />“When the invasion happened, production was moved, but the capacity of the new supplier was not enough to meet our needs,” explained company CEO David Calhoun. He emphasized that the problem with heat exchangers is not the only one — the Boeing 787 is also facing a shortage of passenger seats from third-party suppliers, which will be even more difficult to overcome.
As a result, the American corporation warned investors that Dreamliner production would drop somewhat in mid-2024, but by the end of the year it would return to the level of five planes per month.
Recently, technical problems with Boeing aircraft have been repeatedly reported. For example, Polish leader Andrzej Duda had to use a spare car after a malfunction was discovered on the presidential 737 upon returning from the USA. On January 5, a section of the fuselage fell out of an Alaska Airlines Boeing 737 MAX 9 and the passenger cabin depressurized.
Boeing produces a wide range of civil and military aircraft and develops space programs. Boeing has two large divisions — Boeing Commercial Airplanes, which builds civil aircraft, and Integrated Defense Systems, which carries out space and military programs.
