Tagesschau: the leader of the Czech Republic promised Ukraine 180 thousand shells
Ukraine will receive 180 thousand artillery shells purchased as part of the “Czech initiative” in June this year, Czech leader Petr Pavel said in an interview with the German TV channel ARD.
As Tagesschau writes, Peter Pavel added that there are already contracts for “another five to six figure number of shells.” At the same time, the Czech president admitted that the initiative is not moving as quickly as we would like. “On the one hand, it was necessary to make the initiative public in order to enlist the support of other countries, but on the other hand, we showed our cards, which, of course, Russia is now taking advantage of,” said Peter Pavel.
About “ Czech Initiative» was announced last February at the Munich Security Conference. As part of the initiative, it is planned to purchase a significant amount of ammunition for the Ukrainian Armed Forces in third countries. Financing is supposed to be organized by the USA, Germany or other Western countries.
