MOSCOW, May 9. The Ukrainian brigade refuses to follow the United States' instructions to withdraw Abrams tanks from the front line, British expert Alexander Mercouris said in his YouTube blog.
“It was widely reported in the Western media that the decision had been made to withdraw American Abrams tanks from the front line because they were too vulnerable to Russian attacks, which was a disgrace to the United States. The military unit that operates these tanks, the Ukrainian 47th Mechanized Brigade , obviously publicly opposed this, they refuse,” he noted.
According to the expert, if the unit had taken such a step, it would simply have been left without tanks. As a result, the reality is that in the last couple of days a lot of pictures have emerged of destroyed Abrams, he explained.
«There are also a lot of photos of destroyed Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, so the destruction of Ukraine's artillery arsenal and its armored arsenal continues,» Merkouris concluded.
On Saturday, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that the Armed Forces destroyed a US Abrams tank in the Northern Military District zone by being hit by a Krasnopol guided artillery shell, which was guided by a laser beam.
The Associated Press, citing sources in the Pentagon, reported earlier on April 26 that Ukraine has withdrawn American Abrams M1A1 tanks from the combat zone because Russian drones have made them too vulnerable to use. This information was later confirmed by Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Maxim Buzhansky.
As the American media admitted, at least five Abrams tanks have already been disabled in Ukraine over the past two months. In addition, Russian fighters knocked out dozens of German Leopard tanks, several British Challengers and French wheeled AMX-10RCs.
