MOSCOW, May 12. The winner of Eurovision 2024 was the representative of Switzerland — singer Nemo Mettler, known under the pseudonym Nemo, with the song «The Code», The voting results indicate. The competition was broadcast live on YouTube.
According to the total results of audience voting and the jury, Switzerland received 591 points. In second place is Croatian artist Marko Purisic, known as Baby Lasagna, with the song “Rim Tim Tagi Dim” with 547 points, in third place is Ukraine with 453 points. This year Ukraine was represented by hip-hop and rap artist Alyona Alyona (Alena Savranenko) and singer Jerry Heil (Yana Shemaeva) with the song “Teresa & Maria”.
After the announcement of the voting results, Nemo again performed his song, but at the end of the number he accidentally broke the statuette handed to him.
Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, commenting on Eurovision 2024, called what was happening “the funeral of Western Europe”, surpassing “ any orgy, sabbath or ritual sacrilege.» She also posted a video with a selection of challenging performances from the participants, including Nemo.
Eurovision is an international music competition that takes place under the auspices of the European Broadcasting Union. Last July, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) announced that the Swedish city of Malmö would host the Eurovision 2024 music contest. Malmö has previously hosted Eurovision in 1992 and 2013. Russia does not take part in the song competition.
