MOSCOW, May 14. During the examination of US citizen Robert Woodland, who was arrested in January for drugs, about 50 packages with narcotic substances were found, the state prosecutor read out the testimony of a witness in the Ostankino District Court of Moscow, which is considering matter of fact.
On January 6, the Ostankino District Court arrested Woodland on charges of attempted illegal acquisition, storage, and transportation of narcotic drugs. No other details were provided in court. The US Embassy in Moscow noted that it was aware of reports of his arrest.
“One package of polymer material with a substance inside was discovered and seized… in the right side pocket of the jacket worn by the person being searched [Woodland], in the right side pocket of a black jacket… 13 packages of polymer material, wrapped with adhesive tape and a magnet, were found and seized inside… in the left side pocket of the jacket… 35 packages were found and seized,” follows from the testimony of an attesting witness in the case, which was read out by the state prosecutor.
Lawyer Alexey Miroshnichenko confirmed that in the case there is a protocol on the seizure of 49 packages with narcotic substances. The second lawyer, Stanislav Kshevitsky, added that the case file does not contain evidence “confirming the sale or attempted sale of drugs.”
The defense did not comment on the plot of the criminal case, noting that it was premature to disclose details of the case, but clarified that their client had not yet testified.
Woodland's case is currently being reviewed on its merits. The defense presents its evidence. The accused communicates with the court through an interpreter.
