55-year-old resident of the Leningrad region lost consciousness and almost died after taking a common cold medicine. Leningrad Region Ambulance reports this on its Telegram channel.
Fortunately, the man’s wife was nearby and called an ambulance. When doctors arrived, they found the patient lying on his side and choking. “He was pale, cold, his legs were swollen, his saturation was 69, his pulse jumped from frantic tachycardia to deep deceleration,” said Anastasia Solovyova, a doctor at the Toksovskaya substation.
As it turned out, the man was taking medications. pulmonary edema occurred. To deliver the patient to the hospital, they had to request additional oxygen cylinders, which were delivered by a second team of doctors.
As a result, the doctors managed to restore the patient’s saturation to 96 and transport him safely to intensive care, which saved the man’s life.
