The model of the Japanese brand, developed in partnership with the Chinese manufacturer Changan, was shown at the recent Beijing Auto Show.
The Changan Mazda joint venture showed the serial Mazda EZ-6 liftback at the end of last month, but then the exterior and interior were declassified, and there was no official data about the “filling”. Let us remind you that the model is intended for the Chinese market, and its production will be established in the Middle Kingdom. As Kolesa.ru reported earlier, the five-door will go on sale towards the end of this year.

The new Mazda was developed in partnership with Changan; the basis for this model was the Deepal SL03 liftback. Changan launched the Deepal brand (other names include Shenlan and Deep Blue) in 2022, which is designed specifically for electrified cars. Note that the new liftback is considered the successor to the Mazda Atenza, which previously left the Chinese market: it was a model that was sold in other countries under the name Mazda 6 (at the same time, the Atenza was produced by another joint venture – with the FAW concern, which is now disbanded).
We previously suggested that the Mazda EZ-6 would be available with hybrid and all-electric options. Now the model has appeared in the database of the Chinese Ministry of Industry: judging by the published data, the liftback of the Japanese brand will borrow equipment from the “donor”.
At the heart of the PHEV installation is a 1.5-liter engine, the output of which is 95 hp, it works in tandem with a 218 hp electric motor, the system also includes a lithium iron phosphate battery (capacity has not been made public, but “donor” – 18.99 or 28.39 kWh). The maximum speed of such a five-door is 170 km/h, and the total range with a full tank and a fully charged battery exceeds 1000 km (when calculated using the CLTC cycle).
The “green” modification of the liftback is equipped with a single 258 hp electric motor located on the rear axle. It is known that this option also received a lithium iron phosphate traction battery, but its capacity is still kept secret (Deepal SL03 has 58.89 or 66.8 kWh). This Mazda EZ-6 has a range of about 600 km on a single charge. The maximum speed is the same as the hybrid.

The overall length of the Mazda EZ-6 is 4921 mm, width – 1890 mm, height – 1485 mm, and the distance between the axles – 2895 mm. Note that the “donor” is 101 mm shorter, while its wheelbase is 5 mm longer. For comparison, the dimensions of the current Mazda 6 sedan, intended for the European market, are 4870 x 1840 x 1450 mm, and the distance between the axles is 2830 mm.

In the list of design features and there are narrow LED running lights lights under which compact blocks of the main headlights are “hidden”, as well as rear lights connected to each other by a wide strip across the entire width of the tailgate. The EZ-6 liftback also received frameless doors and a retractable spoiler. In the cabin you can see separate displays of the virtual instrument panel and multimedia system (14.6 inches), a two-story central tunnel and a two-spoke steering wheel.
Recall that at the recent Beijing Motor Show, Mazda also showed a conceptual crossover Arata. It is known that a production SUV based on this show car will appear in 2025.
