The updated Seat Leon lost the base engine and received larger displays

Production of the refreshed hatchback and station wagon of the Spanish brand will start this month at the company’s plant in Martorell (near Barcelona).

The fact that Seat is going to update several models became known in March of this year. Now the company has shown a refreshed Leon hatchback and station wagon, which have remained virtually unchanged in appearance, but they have received a modernized interior and revised technology. Let us remind you that the current generation five-door cars were presented at the beginning of 2020.

The exterior of the updated Leon has not undergone any changes, except that matrix head optics are now offered as an option. But there are new things in the interior. Thus, the hatchback and station wagon of the Spanish brand received a new virtual instrument panel with a diagonal of 10.25 inches. The newly refreshed five-door cars were equipped with a new touchscreen for the infotainment system: for simpler versions its diagonal is 10.4 inches (for the pre-reform version it was 8.25 inches), and for top-end versions it was 12.9 inches (it was 10 inches).

The updated Seat Leon's multimedia display is equipped with sliders for controlling the climate control and sound system (they are backlit, like the restyled Volkswagen Golf). During the update, the Seat Leon lost its base liter three-cylinder engine. Now the basic versions are equipped with a 1.5-liter four-cylinder TSI engine. Its output is 115 hp and the maximum torque is 220 Nm. It is paired with a six-speed manual transmission. The range also includes a 2.0-liter TDI turbodiesel.

There are a couple of mild-hybrid eTSI variants in the lineup, they are based on a 1.5-liter engine with power of either 115 or 150 hp. They work in tandem with a 48-volt power supply. Only a seven-speed DSG gearbox is offered.

More refreshed Leon hatchbacks and station wagons are offered with plug-in hybrid installation eHybrid, which is also based on a 1.5-liter TSI gasoline engine with an output of 150 hp, which comes complete with a 115-horsepower electric motor. The total output is 204 hp. (350 Nm). The system includes a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 19.7 kWh, the power reserve when driving on electric power alone exceeds 100 km.
