MOSCOW, May 14. State Duma Deputy Anton Gorelkin in his Telegram channel proposed informing the public about new fraud schemes through a game series with popular actors.
The deputy said that criminals continue to master deepfake technologies, and the popular method of fraud with fake accounts of executives in messengers has reached a new level — now their voices are used to deceive.
“»There is no simple solution (like banning deepfakes): the situation needs to be influenced comprehensively, and public awareness of new fraud schemes should come first. Today, my colleague Alexey Volotskov and I discussed how to package this into a series format. Not a documentary, like “They’re bothering you from the bank,” but a fictional one, with popular actors, current political and historical context,” Gorelkin wrote.
The deputy said that he would discuss this idea with the Internet Development Institute. “Then initiate a corresponding request from our expert group of the party council on lawmaking to the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation,” he added.
