MOSCOW, May 19. Sassuolo players lost their chance to save registration in Serie A after Frosinone and Empoli scored points in the matches of the 37th round.
On Sunday afternoon, Sassuolo lost at home to Cagliari with a score of 0:2. The Neroverdi (29 points) remained in 19th place but would still have a chance to compete for a place in Serie A if both Frosinone and Empoli (32 points) were defeated later in the evening.
However, Frosinone beat Monza on the road with a score of 1:0, and Empoli played away in a draw with Udinese (1:1). Both teams, continuing to fight for survival, have become unattainable for Sassuolo.
Sassuolo first entered Serie A in 2013 and has since played in the elite division of Italian football for 11 consecutive seasons.
Previously, Salernitana was relegated to Serie B.
