“I’m crying, I can’t stop”: a 9-year-old girl died on the way to the long-awaited sea in Sochi

On the evening of May 18, a terrible tragedy occurred on the Don federal highway near Voronezh. According to the state traffic inspectorate, at about 19:00 local time, two heavy metal objects suddenly fell onto the roadway from one of the trucks moving from Moscow towards Rostov-on-Don. Apparently, they were poorly secured.

At that moment, a Mercedes Benz with a semi-trailer was driving behind the truck. The driver braked sharply to avoid a collision with fallen objects. He succeeded, but behind him was a right-hand drive Honda Fried, driven by a mother of four, Evgenia Shurtsova. The woman, unfortunately, did not have time to understand what was happening ahead and was unable to react in time. As a result, she caused a collision. The impact was incredibly strong and hit the left side of the car, where a 9-year-old girl was sitting in the passenger seat. Unfortunately, she had no chance of salvation.

The mother of the deceased girl and her six-year-old brother were injured, but their condition is stable and their lives are not in danger. It is known that the woman went to Sochi to show her younger children the sea and relax a little. The two older ones stayed at home.

“I’ve been crying for the second day, I can’t believe what happened. The right-hand drive system saved my son, as he was sitting behind it. Zhenya now has three minor children and no husband. I saw the girl before leaving, she was so happy! Her big bright and joyful eyes remained in my memory. Life is so unpredictable, you never know what will happen in the next second,” KP quotes one of the family’s friends.

Evgenia lived with four children in the Yasnaya Sloboda settlement, which is famous as an ideal place for family life among the picturesque landscapes of the Yasnogorsk district of the Tula region. Families who move here seek to escape the bustle of the city, revive Russian traditions and instill in their children a love of nature and agriculture. Local residents work together to educate their children and improve their everyday life. Evgenia, being a seventh grade teacher, shared her knowledge with local children and was well known to everyone in the settlement.

Now Yasnaya Sloboda has organized support for Evgenia, who found herself in such a difficult situation. She is still in the hospital, and her car can no longer be restored.

“Let Zhenya know that there are people who are ready to help and do everything possible,” says the settlement’s official community on the social network.

At the moment, law enforcement agencies continue to clarify all the circumstances of the tragedy. Evgenia, after she recovers from the shock, will have to decide the issue of her daughter’s funeral.
