MOSCOW, May 22. Eight-time Grand Slam winner American Andre Agassi will captain the world team at the Laver Cup from 2025, according to the tournament page on the social network X.
He will replace compatriot John McEnroe, who has led the team since 2017.
The Laver Cup has been held since 2017. The world team has two victories (2022, 2023), the European team, which is also represented by Russians Andrei Rublev and Daniil Medvedev, won four tournaments (2017, 2018, 2019, 2021). The competition was not held in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. In 2024, the Laver Cup will take place on September 20-22 in Berlin.
Agassi is 54 years old, he has won the Australian Open four times, the US Open twice, Roland Garros and Wimbledon once each. In total, he has 60 singles titles, as well as a victory at the 1996 home Olympics in Atlanta.
